Printing parcel shipping labels straight from your orders
August 1, 2026
Ship the occasional parcel order on your own carrier account. On every plan you record the carrier and tracking number on the order and the buyer sees it immediately. On Enterprise you can connect your own Shippo or ShipStation account, compare live rates, and buy and print the label without leaving the order screen, with tracking filled in automatically.
Where parcel shipping fits in a distribution operation
Most of what a food distributor sells goes out on the truck, and that is how it should stay. Produce is heavy, perishable, and margin-thin; routes are the whole advantage of being local. But a few orders every month land outside the map: a wholesale account two counties past your last zone, a customer who moved and still wants your shelf-stable line, a gift box headed across the state. Shelf-stable retail (sauces, dry goods, honey, preserves) is the usual candidate, because it survives a couple of days in a box.
For those orders, parcel is the right tool. The question is only how much friction sits between "order is packed" and "buyer has a tracking number." Parcel handling is one narrow piece of running a distribution business well, and the goal is the same as everywhere else: make the exception cheap to handle so it never distracts from the trucks.
The baseline: every plan ships parcels today
You do not need any integration to ship a box. On every Minori Midori plan the flow is:
- Ship on whatever carrier account you already have. USPS, UPS, FedEx, a broker account, whatever you use today. You buy the postage wherever you normally buy it.
- Type the carrier and tracking number on the order. Two fields on the order screen, filled in by whoever taped the box shut.
- The buyer sees it. Tracking shows up on their order detail, and the usual shipped notification goes out. No emailing tracking numbers around.
For an operation that ships a handful of parcels a month, this is genuinely fine. The cost of the manual flow is a copy-paste round trip through the carrier's website, maybe two minutes per box. Nobody should buy software to save two minutes twice a month.
What integrated labels add on Enterprise
When parcel volume grows past the occasional box, the copy-paste round trip starts to add up, and transcription mistakes creep in. The Enterprise plan removes the round trip: connect your own Shippo or ShipStation account in shipping settings, set your ship-from address once, and the label flow moves onto the order screen itself.
From a parcel order, staff:
- Enter the package weight and dimensions. What is actually in the box, after it is packed.
- Compare live rates side by side. Rates come from the carriers you have enabled on your own Shippo or ShipStation account, at your own negotiated prices, with service level and transit estimate next to each one. If your broker rates live in ShipStation, they show up here too.
- Buy and print without leaving the order. Pick a rate, confirm, and a printable label comes back.
- Tracking fills itself in. The carrier and tracking number land in the same fields staff would have typed, so the buyer-facing display and the shipped notification work exactly as they always did, just sooner and without transcription.
Bought a label with the wrong weight, or on the wrong order? Void it within the carrier's void window right from the same screen, and the tracking clears. The manual carrier-and-tracking fields never go away, on any plan; the integration removes the copy-paste, it does not gate your ability to ship.
Your carrier account, your postage bill
This part matters enough to say plainly: the connected account is yours. Postage and provider fees bill to your own Shippo or ShipStation account, at your rates. Minori Midori never marks up a label, never advances postage, and never touches shipping money at all. The platform's role ends at showing you the rates and printing the document.
The same separation applies at checkout. What your buyers pay for shipping is set by your own shipping pricing, the same way you price delivery. It has no automatic linkage to what the label actually costs you. That is deliberate: your parcel pricing is a business decision, not a pass-through. What the integration does give you is cost visibility. Every purchased label records what it cost, in plain view of staff, so whoever sets your shipping prices can see the real spend next to what was charged and adjust with open eyes instead of guessing.
A label history that answers questions later
Every label purchase is kept with the order: which carrier and service, what it cost, the tracking number, which staff member bought it, and when. Voided labels stay in the history marked as voided rather than disappearing, and each label records which provider issued it, so a tenant who switches from Shippo to ShipStation keeps a complete, readable record. Three months later, "who shipped that order and what did it cost us" is a glance at the order, not an archaeology project in a carrier dashboard.
Current boundaries, stated up front
Integrated labels today cover US domestic shipments with a single package per label. International shipping with customs forms, return labels, insurance add-ons, and batch printing are not part of the current flow; for those cases the manual path through your carrier still works, tracking entry included. One ship-from address per account applies for now as well.
If your parcel volume is a box or two a month, the manual flow on any plan covers you. If parcels are a real recurring channel, the integrated flow on Enterprise turns each one into a sub-two-minute task with the paperwork kept for you. The details of the label flow are on the shipping labels product page.
